What Actually Happend To You, In Detail When Your Meds Wear Off?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question đź’

I start to feel down and in need of something. I get very insecure and then I remind myself, meds are off. So, then I start labored breathing, very weak, especially in my legs. They freeze up and get very hard to move them to get to my bed. I could fall very fast at this time. The hard tremor starts up, I lay in that bed and my body seizes up. Arms won't move, I don't breath steady. I start sweating and am very hot. I am scared, depressed that I have to live this way 5 to 6 times every day.

Chrissy, I really don't know that my experiences will be helpful to you since my diagnosis is no longer "simple" Parkinson's disease. I do take meds for my symptoms but my off times usually have more to do with suddenly feeling tired, shaky, my heartbeat loses its regularity. I do get sweaty but I'm cold at the same time with blue hands and feet, and sometimes I get extremely sleepy. My meds help fairly quickly, but not without a nap. Does that sound like you at all?
Hugs,
Teresa

I also experience this off time but not as severely as you do. Perhaps your doctor can revise the schedule for taking your meds. Mine did and it helped.

I would certainly talk to your dr about this. They may be able to help.

Yea! We just have to take it, and pray it won't last too long.

I have had a Neurologist, but went to a Movement Disorder Specialist a week ago. I have been taking Rytary ER @ 3 capsules, 7-8 hrs apart, & 3 times a day. She said it was insufficient & caused too much Off Time. She increased my dosage to 4 times a day & 5 hrs apart. Because I have had tremors that worsened during upset & stressful times since my 20’s she said I have had Essential Tremors all these years & then got Parkinson’s on top of it in my 60’s. She said there might be something else going on in addition & had a lot of bloodwork done that day. Results have not come in yet. She wants me to log everything & every off time & how I felt during that time. I had not logged anything so I couldn’t remember dates when each symptom began. I felt like an idiot not to have kept track of these things. I just left that to my Neurologist in his records, but he got very ill & hospitalized for many months & retired. I encourage everyone to keep a log of these things since this past info & when it began is important to the doctor.
My psychiatrist this week increased my mood stabilizer to help with my irritability & behavior & moods. I feel more calm & so far no ill effects from the changes with my Rytary dosages. Talk to your doctor if you are having trouble with your Off Times you may need a medication adjustment.
