I wonder if there was an answer to the question “Why do I Aleaysm?” I’m curious. If i post. Words that don’t make sense or you don’t know, it’s probably because my computer thinks it can spell better than I.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, the question as to why Percocet was the first one I asked. That is not a good drug at all for anyone with balance issues, possible chronic sleepiness, declining thought processes, lots of other heavy duty meds, and most of all, the fact that Percocet is not intended for long-term use. My doctors, I have several, all keep me away from the narcotics, preferring I stick with exercise. There are many meds that parkies should NEVER have, and narcotics just don't really help for PD pain anyway. For a time I was on Norco at bedtime until I received my pacemaker and could take up exercising again. I would question the wisdom of the doctor; after 4 med mistakes in 4 visits, I switched. We all need to be advocating for ourselves, or find someone who can.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I posted what I think the answer might be, as best I could. That was earlier this afternoon maybe around 3:30 - 4:00 PM. I hope it was useful to someone.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, do you take Percocet for a certain pain which gets worse when you take the med? If so, the pain may not be the type which responds to a strong narcotic like Percocet. For instance, narcotics aren't especially good for pain from muscle spasms; you would need a different kind of medication. But the other thing which comes to mind is that Percocet may be adversely reacting with something else you take, in which case you might be able to get more reliable information from your pharmacist; they have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the effects of various drugs and how they may interact. (I called one today to find out if I can develop a blood clot from an injury even though I take a blood thinner.) One other possibility I can think of is you may just not be able to take Percocet and you are actually having, if not an allergic reaction, at least an adverse reaction.
I hope you can find out.
Hugs,
Teresa
