Has anyone died of Parkenson"s?
Me too
Like HIV, people die from complications oF Parkinson’s,if not from Parkinson’s itself. Complications such as pneumonia from aspiration of food or brain injuries caused by bad balance
From falls. As a longtime PD patient , I appreciate the sheer variety of Parkinson’s symptoms
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. Hi there and welcome to MPT. You don't normally die directly from PD symptoms, but from other health problems that PD affect and complicate such as Pneumonia.
There is the possibility of falling and severely hitting your head for eg which could lead to death, but we don't want to dwell on such things as they will just depress us. Despite our PD there is still a lot of good living to do, we just need to adapt each day as to how we are and to what symptoms have come to the front of queue. Keep in touch with your Neurologist and local doctor to ensure the medications are working ok or need tweeking. Make sure you don't go into off periods. Look for the positives in each day. I see you are in the mild stage. Are you still getting about and being active. Are you involved in an exercise class. Physical exercising regularly is the best medicine to slow down the progression of PD. It also helps mentally to be amongst others working out. Check if you have a Rock Steady Boxing PD group close to you, or a local gym. Don't be self conscious about doing so. They will certainly help you and I can promise you, you will feel better once you get into the routine of doing it. There are many of us older folks with all sorts of health issues at my gym.
Hope this helps you.
Hugs
Brent
My Dad also had PD, and he died of complications of PD. Hugs, Vickie
