Does Parkinsons Or Parkinsonism Affect Bowels?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question đź’

I'm on no medication, but my bowels have been exploding for two days, although I'm eating very little, mostly toast and tea. Is this a case for a gastroenterologist or is it Parkinsons?

constipation is one of the non-motor symptoms of PD. increasing the fiber in your diet will help. if all else fails. a laxative helps, although doctors do not like people to stay on laxatives for very long because the body becomes dependent on them. but with PD it is more important to keep the bowels moving so that the medication can be absorbed.

The most common complaint is constipation. I did have scary diarrhea when I took Entacapone. I had to stop talking it.

Apples, coffee, fiber gummies from CVS. I avoid fake sugar. Splenda in particular can cause what you described
