I did Rock Steady Boxing for a year and half and found it very helpful. ( I am now out due to a shoulder injury ) We had a former boxing champion as trainer and wonderful volunteer helpers. It not only gave a workout but also socialization. I need the commitment of a being part of a group and the push to strive. Our group had scholarships, maybe that's available at your Rock Steady.
Each RSB studio is independent and sets their own rates. Compared to supervised gym/classes, the cost is about the same. Worth every dime. I am in best shape of my life, work HARD, have supportive classmates and coaches. They challenge each of us, based on our abilities and limitation. SO worth it. Strenuous - what you need to slow progression - yoga will keep you limber but won't slow progression. Leisurely walking won't slow progression - only if you are hustling and starting to sweat. Still helps, but won't slow progression.
The closest Rock Steady boxing would mean a 45 min drive to and back for me. The Corpus Christi support group has held fundraising to lower cost for members. I chose Tai Chi instruction following Dr Michael Lam’s program approved by CDC and Arthritis Foundation. I’m loving it and seeing stremghth and balance improvement after only 1 month.
It's worth every penny and is the best therapy, the best thing I ever did.
We work hard so it slows the progression, I recommend it to anyone with PD.
Research says that it’s very good. I have friends who benefit in many ways. I’ve not tried it yet. I ride a recumbent bike for 45 minutes, 76-96 rpm, 4-5 x a week, zero resistance.
