I have been approved for Medicare A & B as of April 1st. There seem to be alot of supplemental/advantage plans such as AARP and Humana. Can anyone provide personal experience (good or bad) on what is out there?
My friends say AARP its wonderful, they work in healthcare and consider it to be one of the best.My husband has Medicare and Humana,we haven't even paid a deductible .He's had multiple MRI's surgical procedures,Pt Chiropractors,we have two upcoming appts for Jefferson in Philly for a Parkinsons Movement disorder specialist and an appt in NYC with a neuro surgeon. For possible back surgery. We have NO complaints! Haven't cost him a penny out of pocket.
I am having a very good experience with Mutual of Omaha. The premium is 100 bucks per month, but I certainly get my money's worth!
I have Medicare A and B, plus supplemental plan F (which is no longer available to new people), but plan G is about the same. I have the supplemental plan through AARP/United Healthcare. I pay $248 month for the supplemental plan, but do not have any co-pays at all. I went to the Office for the Aging to help navigate all the different options and pick a plan.
All supplemental plans with the same letter have the same coverages... after you decide what letter supplement plan you want, you’re shopping for the cheapest cost...I decided plan G was best for me.. then I shopped for the best price and ended up with Mutual of Omaha...
I've had AARP and liked it. I moved to Wisconsin and now use Humana. The key is to have a supplemental that provides access to UW health which is a fantastic system. My husband and I both have Humana.
