Discovered a dry red scaly place at the beginning of my left eyebrow. I'll ask my movement neurologist next week, but does anyone else have this? Is there anything topical that's effective for you?
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member --Thank you and what is a "clarifying" shampoo Brand name?
Never heard of "clarifying" shampoo, but then I don't get out much. lol
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member Oh, thanks so much for the detailed suggestion. I'll get right on it!
The dry patches are actually very common with PD. I have them on the backs of my hands, my eyelids, my head, my feet, sometimes my knees, etc. For your hair I have heard it help to use a dandruff shampoo, but I don't find that helpful. However, you can try rinsing your hair with half apple cider vinegar/half hot water, and/or use pine pitch shampoo. There's also a soap bar for other places. For scaly skin there is bag balm which does a better job than any prescription. Avon has some gelled oil which is great for dry skin, and it isn't runny. There's also coconut oil which is good for skin, and easily found in grocery stores; you can rub it into your skin, but if you work it into your scalp and let it soak in for awhile, then wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo you can get good results also. (My daughter puts it in her hot coffee, and not only does it taste good, it moisturizes her lips, too.)

Hi! I have occasional patches like you describe.I use a natural salve called
Peaceful Mountain shingles rescue. It's available on amazon and works for
my patches. It's a homeopathic gel. Hope this helps!
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, a clarifying shampoo is along the lines of shampoo for oily hair. I'm not sure if there's any difference actually, but if so it's not much. It will remove any residue from conditioner, hair spray, gel, or any other product you use on your hair, but it won't strip your hair, leaving it too dry. I like to buy it in a hair salon; it costs a bit more, but usually a hair dresser can help you get the best one for your hair. In the store there are several good ones available, but I wouldn't the cheapest ones; they can be too harsh. I hope that helps. Oh, make sure the shampoo is clear, or nearly clear, otherwise it is adding more residue to your hair.
Hugs,
Teresa
