I Have Fit Like Seizures That Last A Few Seconds . Is This A Parkinsons Symptom?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had an EEG done and the report concluded I was not having seizures. But I’m still experiencing these fits. I can feel when is going to happen. I don’t feel physically ill just like something is not right. It progresses differently each time , an hour , a day sometimes a few days till I’m finally in what feels like an off period. This is when I’ll get those fits . I have to sit or lay down. Once my body is relaxed I’ll shake terribly, like a sensory overload and then my whole body goes rigid… read more

I was diagnosed in February of this year. The neurologist said it was early stages of Parkinsons . I worked at my county tax office for ten years . Retired at 50 , five years ago due to health issues that were starting to effect my work. Soon after retiring I had a heart stent procedure. I also have diabetes. So a lot of the Parkinsons symptoms I was having I thought were due to those conditions and so did my general doctor and cardiologist. It took a while for me to realize that a lot of my symptoms were caused by something else.

Delia, It is a constant state of discovery with PD. I was diagnosed in 2015, and have Diabetes as well (47 years). Never thought I'd wind up with both of these serious chronic illnesses, but extremely happy that they are both manageable/treatable to some extent.

Frances yes this is exactly what happens to me. When the “seizure” was over I was drained and slept as well. Can you feel when one is going to come on? I have come recognize when it going to happen. I don’t feel sick or any physical pain other than the normal aches and pains. It’s just that I don’t feel quite right. This could be right before to hours or even a day . It just progressively builds up to the point of a bit of confusion.......we’ll just like an off period.

Bean, yes. You could be describing me. This is new for me. Happens awake and asleep,, sometimes one episode after another for maybe 5-10 minutes, sometimes just one big one.
My daughter insists on coming over tomorrow, i fear she will witness this. I do not want to add to her worries.

Welcome new member! I have never heard of those symptoms but with PD there are so many different symptoms which I learn every day. What does your parkinson doctor say about it. Do you take PD medication?
