Recommendation For Therapists For PD Caregiver Spouses In The Bay Area Ca

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭
Mill Valley, CA

My mother in law is taking care of her husband with PD. She has become depressed and traumatized by his risk of injury (falling) and had become angry with him. Is there a therapist in the north bay (near San Francisco) who specializes in caregiving (or PD caregiving) that she could see?

Call the local mental health department, they could probably help. Your mother in law, probably needs to get of the house for a little while, but she needs to know the person staying to help husband can handle the job.

Contact your behavioral health department in your county. Michael m Fox foundation might be another source. There are also senior centers that might give her a break.

She needs respite care. Call a nursing agency they can help you get started.
