Hello, Can you Please help me. I am reaching out to get help for my husband who has been diagnose with Parkinson's. We are applying for Social Security Disability and we are lost of what is needed to say or do. Can you give me someone I can talk to about this? He drives a tractor trailer for a living. He is still working, but wants to stop. If feels he is not eligible for SSD. HELP
Thank You

Thx
One of my RSB friends said you should fill out all the paperwork by hand instead of typing it on the computer. It'll likely show crappy handwriting which is further evidence of your disability. I haven't tested this theory, but I intend to soon.
Hi, I was dx'd at 40, worked for 8 years as a therapist,by 47 ish, it was to hard for me to work..so I applied for SSDI, and was denied the first time. (as a lawyer told me 80-90% of people are denied the 1st round, and she said because I was so young, that presented another obstacle). If you go with a lawyer, it goes thru the courts etc...I decided NOT to use a lawyer the 2nd time I applied, (the lawyer also gets 25% of the $$$, not totally clear on that.) I got approved the 2nd time. Some tips: when u fill out the application, keep in the back of your head, SS wants to see evidence why u can't perform ANY job. Your husband may not be able top drive a tractor, but why can't he be a "Walmart " greeter. You have to show SSWHY U CAN'T DO ANY JOB. I went on line to get " tips" for the "verbage" they want on your application. Then SS wants your medical records, so you need to have a good relationship with your MD so they document how the symptoms affect daily axs. Then I had to see the "state's" neurologist to evaluate me. Again due to the fact I was dx's young, they wanted to make sure I couldn't do ANY work. And you can't be working when you apply. I quit my job and applied 1 month later and they denied me stating the "dates" were to close...when my symptoms affected my ADLS and when I quit my job. It is some work but in the end it is worth it.
I handwrote, it was tedious, tiring...it got the job done.
Thank you
