How Do You Feel About This DPS Surgery. I'm Considering It, But My Symptoms Are Very Minor In My Option. Are You For It Or Against It ?
I had DBS surgery in November 2020. It has been a limited success. During the operation the surgeon found the ‘sweet spot’ that stopped all the tremors ( which I was aware of even though under anaesthetic) but they found I was unable to move my eyes so they had to move the sensor slightly..
The result is that the tremors in my hand and arm are under control but the effect on my leg was only temporary and the tremors returned there after a couple of weeks.
Despite being re - programmed 4 times now there has been no relief fir my left leg and foot.
Despite this i souls day still recommend this procedure fir anyone who is eligible and passes the tests.
I would wait until your symptoms are interfering with your life. It primarily works on tremors and works best on people who saw improvement with carbidopa but have reached maximum dosage, IIRC.
I had DBS in September of 19 when I was 49. We were never able to control my tremors very well with meds. Everything went well. I am pretty much tremor free to this day. I do think there are some sacrifices though. As my PD has progressed the device has affected my speech. Not terribly bad so far but I can be a bit hard to understand at times. Especially if I’m tired. I would definitely do it again.
I'm 77 and don't think it's for old guys. So far my life has not changed much. Trying to find out from others who have had this done first
I was diagnosed in September 2021 with focal foot Dystonia secondary to Parkinson’s.
What Are Some Symptoms That You Have That Are NOT Listed As Symptoms Of Parkinson's But You Feel That It Might Be.
