Well I know all the arguments for exercise, and PT. I just do not like to waste time doing nothing but moving my bod around for the sake of moving. If I feel like I can exercise on a particular day, I do something useful like vacuuming the house or moping the floors, go out and clean up the car a little bit, clean up a bit in the yard or go to the grocery store for my wife. I get plenty of exercise and get things done too. There is always the old standby, clean out the garage. The best part is that it is free. I know some of you can't do these things and need someone to help you stay active and strong but as long as you can do some work around the house, do it. It adds self-worth to your attitude too. We all need to be productive and useful.
I have a daughter who is mildly disabled. She goes to PT and comes home and sits down and waits for the next session. What a waste of her time and the PT technicians time. We are our own best exercise coordinator. Drive yourself just a bit harder than they drive you. Exercise is an everyday affair, not just at the gym. We are all responsible for our own health problems. The Dr can tell us what's wrong and prescribe medicine. We are the ones who must do the work of healing.
Keep on keeping on.

There is also videos you can watch with Yoga and other low impact exercises, even drumming. Start off easy doing a class ever other day and progress up. Force yourself but don't push to the point it hurts have fun with it and remember you are doing it for your own well being.
Hi Sharon. Hope this finds you doing well this fine Saturday. I have an idea that might help to motivate you. I think for me Motivation was the key for me. We know in our heads we need to do it and that it helps us. Maybe if you sit down with a paper and pen and wrote down exactly how it will help you. List every way it would benefit you. As many things as you can think of. Then down below write the reasons you don’t exercise or don’t want to. Even if it’s “I never liked exercise. Keep this paper and read it frequently. Give it a try. Can’t hurt.
Blessings.

Take the dread out of your PT by becoming friends with your therapist. Talk about the things you like to talk about : family, places you've visited, things you've done., books, music or movies. As a 91 year old widower I looked forward to the PT's visits. After the first home visit I considered her a friend..She showed me how to use and not use my walker and exercises i should and shouldn't attempt (due to loss of balance). She also provided great tips for sleeping and eating better. Two years later I'm forever grateful to her.
Wonderful advice! I really feel motivated by the way you exclaimed it. Thank you.
