Biting The Inside Of Cheeks
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have recently started biting the inside of one cheek and to say the least it hurts like hell. i have become aware of a few other parkinsons afflicted people with the same problem and my Neurologist sai d its not umcommon as swallowing is such a complex task.
Anyone have a solution ? What appears to work best for me is chew slowly with small amounts of food on the other sideof my mouth. Not helping matters is the fact i have had 3 teeth remove this year.

I had this issue and it went away in its own.

I had this problem for years and the answer is to take 1000mg of thiamine for 28 days straight then have 5 days off before restarting the cycle. I started this process about 4-5 years ago and it has reduced my problem practically to zero. Thiamine is actually vitamin B1 and your body gets rid of any excess. I got the formula from a consultant in italy (Dr. Costantini) who has since died of covid, but his legacy carries on. I used to bite my tounge, lips, inside of my mouth and choke constantly, but now it's down to a minimum. The tablets I use are 500mg and like most tablets are hard to swallow, but hey, thats better than choking and continuously biting on your mouth. It hasn't stopped the shaking (tremor) so thats something I'm still working on. Give it a go, you've nothing to loose, "we've got to try and help each other". It may take a while for things to change but hopefully not too long. I wish you well Yogibear, please let me know how it goes 👍

I found I have recently started the same, usually while I’m eating. I have to make a conscious effort stop doing it. It hasn’t happened very often…

Cheek biting was one of my earliest symptoms of PD. It struck me as bizarre and I did not know what to do. I found a cheap over the counter sports mouthguard and then a snoring control mouth guard that covered my bite and they both worked like a charm. you can pay a bunch if you have a dentist fit you for a bite guard, but go with something out of a sports store is my advice.

I had the same thing happen to me a while back and you are right, is hurts! For a while I was trying very carefully not to do so, not to bite. But eventually it went away. Again, I don't know why but I am glad it did, Hope yours will go away too.
