Does anyone here have vascular parkinsonism? What is it like and how does it differ from common Parkinson's disease? How does it effect you?
🦉?
Vascular parkinsonism (VP) is a neurological disorder that causes symptoms similar to Parkinson's disease. However, VP is caused by damage to the brain's blood vessels, rather than the loss of nerve cells as in Parkinson's disease.
The symptoms of VP can vary from person to person, but they typically include:
Slowness of movement (bradykinesia)
Tremors
Rigidity
Difficulty walking and balancing
Speech problems
Cognitive decline
VP is often caused by a stroke or a series of small strokes. Other risk factors for VP include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and smoking.
There is no cure for VP, but there are treatments that can help to manage the symptoms.
Early diagnosis and treatment can help to improve your quality of life and slow the progression of the disease.
I have this because of high LDL and strokes. I have tremors, balance problems, short term memory problems and weakness. I get statin shots every 6 months as I couldn't tolerate the pills. Not fun for sure but I am 80 years old which doesn't help.

Hi Diane,
It amazes me to see the age all of us are. Actually, we are very blessed indeed to still be above the ground. And your picture looks very young indeed. So hope you are having a great day. Take care, BFN!❤️🤗😊
The article in the resources section about types of Parkinsonisms has a paragraph on vascular Parkinson's. https://www.myparkinsonsteam.com/resources/type...
