Members shared their experiences with baseline cognitive assessments for Parkinson's disease, with many reporting annual testing and scores that helped track disease progression. Several members highlighted important factors that can affect results, including depression, anxiety, chronic pain, sleep deprivation, and medications like statins, with one member noting dramatic cognitive improvement after stopping statins. A recurring theme was the importance of timing these tests carefully so results are accurate, since invalid baselines can lead to harmful treatment decisions.

Had one done when I was first diagnosed and was told I have some cognitive loss but when I told my primary care physician he told me that statins drugs will do that so he took me off of statins and I improved drastically thank God

Don't think it is baseline because I think I had Parkinsons for several years before getting the official PD label, but I do have the assessment when I was diagnosed

Nope. But I have one annually with my Medicare wellness exam. We usually laugh a lot.

Very interesting Frances, thanks for sharing. I don't think there is an age limit on the DBS procedure in the US but that may vary among our various health insurance providers.
