I,ve drank hazelnut mocha for years but considering switching to coffee if enough people thinks î would help my PD, Dpes ît help, in your opinion? I'll try anything that can help.
I don’t know if it helps anything other than waking up in the AM but I mix a pack of hot chocolate mix with my coffee and it sure tastes good!😎Nice way to start the day no matter what else is going on.
Good morning Merrilee. You know me, I always turn to science for solid answers, if there is any. In researching the questions from our community, I did find articles that suggest the caffeine might give temporary relief from chronic fatigue and help improve appetite. As with almost everything related to PD, results may be different for those trying the remedy.
If I may, I'd love it if you would list your symptoms and some details about each like whether they bother you everyday, all day, some days, worse in the evening, etc. I bet if we break PD inro symptoms, we can work with the community to find things that have worked for them. I'm sure we would all love to help improve your days while we wait for the magical cure.
Merrilee, do you want to try this approach?
Team, do you want to try this for Merrilee and others?

My husbands neurologist says no caffeine after early afternoon .
Thank you for asking this question. There is 'solid science', that states coffee actually has a nutritious value, and is helpful with degeneration. If I have read the articles from the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute for neurological disorders and stroke, it has something to do with the oils produced by the beans. The Science states between 4 and 12 cups.As with anything else, your religious beliefs, geolocation, acidity from the stomach, lining of the larynx, suffering from speech, all of these play a part in selection, typology, location, allergic reactions. With my religious background, I was told once that coffee and or caffeine was not allowed, but the actual health value is much more substantial than a religious belief, especially when it comes to your health, and 'postum' doesn't work for someone like me and my genetics. So for all of you involved in a religious organization that doesn't believe in caffeine, remember this quote from the bible-https://www.bible.com/bible/8/MAT.15.11-20.AMPC...
When I first read this data, I did research on the Sumatra Coffee Bean. As our smell and taste buds become dysfunctional, I have gone with Italian Espresso Beans, or the Folgers Gourmet supreme coffee beans. Please seek wise counsel from your Parkinson's disease research team members. If you are like me, and having spent a bit of time, in the Psychiatric Unit after my DBS Brain surgery, the Unit didn't use anything but decaffinated coffee or Sanka. I do apologize if I got off center, but yes there is science that states coffee is nutritive.
One cup of coffee each day seems to help me
