I'm still hanging on to my sense of humor, but I've been a little crazy all my life. I've also had bouts of depression and anxiety all my life. It comes and goes. There are times when I can sense depression for 15 minutes then it just goes away. I try to find something to look forward to. I would say I'm happy and still silly most of the time.

Good day Merrilee
This is a stressful time of year. Also terrible things happening all over the globe. Take each day as it comes and reach out to your friends here.

Merrilee, caregiver here, so I can't speak to PD and loss of humor specifically, but I myself go through periods of this life-long. Also, holidays bring it out in me. This, too, shall pass. It sounds silly, but sometimes making myself laugh actually helps break the spell a little. Watching funny movies from earlier days such as Marx Brothers, Lucille Ball, Batman from the 1960s, All In The Family or Carol Burnett clips (if you can find them), help. Also, there is something called Laughter Yoga which are incredible facial exercises in disguise and a leader leads you and you are essentially forcing yourself to laugh in a very gentle way -- it is really fun! They have them over Zoom and it's free. Just type in Laughter Yoga. If you can't get linked into it, let me know and I will send you the local one over zoom here. THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

I think we can all have difficulty expressing humor at varying times.
Holidays can be stressful, especially when your older, battling disease, living alone, missing family, winter weather, etc..
Even if it's not full blown depression, it can still be difficult to find that familiar happy spot.
I usually try to relax, breathe, watch an old movie, read a good book, eat some comfort food, or take something apart, clean, and reassemble it just for fun.
Some do retail therapy, but for me it's a 30 years as a Navy machinist mate type of thing?

Merrilee. Parkinsons and Depression can cause loss of motivation, apathy, not enjoying things you usually do. It’s like your feelings are on hold is how I experience it. There are other things, but I can’t remember. Apathy causes this blah, no emotional feelings, even things that would normally make you feel happiness or sadness. One lady said she was not even able to be emotionally happy when someone close to her had a baby. Look up Apathy and it will be clear. Know you are not alone in this area, I experience Apathy and many of us do. You aren’t wierd. It is common. Look up information about it and you will see the affects of Apathy. You are ok. Love and Hugs
Carol 😘
