Lately I’ve noticed a significant cognitive decline in my ex-husband (and very dear friend) such as losing thought in mid-sentence, thinking he told me something and didn’t and sometimes getting words mixed up. He’s firmly entrenched in Stage 3. At what stage does Parkinson’s dementia occur?

With my husband, cognitive issues come and go. He has moderate PD, about stages 2-3. His executive functioning is a lot less and things like map reading or learning something new are difficult now. He can't do the taxes or keep our finances straight the way he used to. At the same time, I wouldn't say that he has dementia, and most of the time he functions normally. Yes, he loses words, but no more than I do. I've seen him have trouble understanding something one day, and the next he sounds like the person I married 27 years ago.

For me things have been on the decline for a while but we were chalking it up to my Epilepsy meds. It may be but it seemed stable UNTIL my covid in January and February of this year. This month marks one year since my diagnosis. I was told then that I was in stage 3 and would probably need a wheelchair in 5 to 7 years. My personal mobility chair is in the garage. I use it for anything more than a small grocery store that my husband parks close to. Covid kicked my Parkinson's a$$! It put me in overdrive. Two weeks ago I couldn't remember how to write an email 😱
Right now I just checked to see the subject of this...Lord, help me!!

That’s because I’m only in stage 1.
