I think my wife would agree to yes it's been a year and a half
My son who is healthy has been dating a women for the last four or five years. She has MS. He works out with weights so that he can pick her up from the floor when she falls. She is legally blind and really struggles to walk. We love her. When my son told her that I was diagnosed with PD she came in and threw her arms around me, saying that we were sisters in neurology. So yes I think it is possible to date someone with PD. It just has to be the right someone. I think my son is very much like his dad who is leading by example. So, I say go for it.
It's a brutal question! You ask if I would DATE someone with PD. My answer is NO. Knowing what I know now, I will not venture into that predicament. Especially having PD myself.
However, if I am already in a relationship with someone and he is then diagnosed with PD it's a whole new ball game. That would depend on a lot of things, but yes I can see continuing the relationship and even getting married.
Good question my man ! I think you would need to be completely devoted to each other. I believe it could work it's a big decision. I wish you all the best my friend.
Dating with Parkinson's disease is absolutely possible and can lead to meaningful relationships. A beautiful example from the Parkinson's community shows that love can flourish even after diagnosis - one MyParkinsonsTeam member met someone at church after their diagnosis, dated, and went on to have a happy marriage.
