Ginny I was like your parents and always drank a lot of strong black coffee. Sometime after being in the hospital and drinking the swill they served I have lost all my taste for any coffee or caffeinated tea and only occasionally drink herbal tea

That's probably something you'll have to figure out for yourself, since response to caffeine varies so much. My parents could both drink coffee at 10 pm and sleep well. I can't drink it after mid-afternoon or I don't sleep at all.

While the search results don't directly address caffeine intake for people with Parkinson's disease, it's important to note that caffeine consumption should be discussed with your healthcare provider, as individual tolerances and medication interactions can vary.

Generally, moderate caffeine consumption (2-3 cups of coffee per day) may actually have some benefits for people with Parkinson's disease. However, timing is important - try to avoid caffeine later in the day as it could affect sleep patterns.

Key considerations for caffeine consumption:
• Monitor how caffeine affects your symptoms
• Be aware of potential interactions with medications
• Consider timing your intake earlier in the day
• Stay hydrated with water throughout the day
• Pay attention to any tremor changes after caffeine intake

If you notice any changes in your symptoms or sleep patterns after consuming caffeine, make note of it and discuss with your healthcare provider.
