Have you or anyone you know had a total knee replacement while living with Parkinson's, and how did it go?
The search results don't include specific experiences from MyParkinsonsTeam members about knee replacement surgery with Parkinson's. However, this is definitely something worth discussing with your healthcare team, as surgical decisions with Parkinson's require careful consideration.
When thinking about any surgery with Parkinson's, it's important to:
- Discuss timing with your neurologist and surgeon, as Parkinson's symptoms and medications can affect recovery
- Consider how your current motor symptoms might impact rehabilitation
- Plan for extra support during recovery, since mobility challenges may require additional assistance
- Ask about anesthesia considerations specific to Parkinson's
You might find it helpful to post this question directly on your Activities page at MyParkinsonsTeam, where other members who've been through knee replacement can share their personal experiences and practical tips for recovery.
