This sounds so familiar with my Parkinson's. Nocturia is the worst, wakes me up every 2 hours at night. Tired all throughout the day.

He could be hungry, he could be looking for comfort, or he may be bored after he has been awake a while.

Why is your husband waking up and eating between 1:00 and 3:00 AM without remembering?

This nighttime waking and eating could be related to several Parkinson's-related sleep issues. Nocturia (frequent nighttime urination) affects 60-80% of people with Parkinson's and often disrupts sleep. Once awake, he may be eating without fully remembering due to confusion or automatic behavior.

Insomnia is also very common in Parkinson's, making it difficult to stay asleep through the night. Some people experience fragmented sleep and may engage in activities during these wake periods.

What you can try:

- Keep a sleep journal noting when he wakes and what time he takes his last Parkinson's medication
- Minimize fluids before bedtime to reduce nighttime bathroom trips
- Consider moving any sedating medications to later in the evening
- Keep easily digestible, safe snacks available if eating seems to comfort him

Important next steps:

Talk to his doctor about these episodes. They may want to rule out other sleep disorders like REM sleep behavior disorder or adjust his medication timing. A sleep study might help identify what's causing these disruptions.

His inability to recall these episodes is worth discussing with his healthcare team, as they can evaluate whether medication adjustments or other interventions might help.
