I've done all kinds of cleansing with for heavy metals one of my main because I got my metals and minerals levels checked after 8 years active duty during first Gulf War 1990s (I was Active U.S. Army for Maryland National Guard, stayed state side but all I did was process soldiers to and from) Anyways, my levels were literally off the charts!!! I have done fancy homeopathic verses, vegan versions, water fasting etc ... and the homeopathic was by far the best, did like twice and ironically was recently thinking of doing again because of the PD ... but like a lot of us on here, PD has put a pinch in my wallet and that bugger is pricey ... several hundred for the test and kit they send based on your numbers and then you have to eat and drink extremely clean for I think 4 to 6 weeks course but really worth it ...

I've thought about it, @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, but I'm not brave enough, nor do I have energy extra money to try. I would love to know how it works out for you.

Are heavy metal detox and parasite cleanses helpful for Parkinson's disease?

There's no solid evidence that heavy metal detox or parasite cleanses help with Parkinson's symptoms or progression. While you might see these promoted online, they're not standard treatments recommended by neurologists for Parkinson's.

Some important things to consider:

- These cleanses can sometimes interact with your Parkinson's medications or cause side effects
- Your kidneys and liver naturally process and remove toxins from your body
- If you're taking supplements as part of a detox, they could affect how well your medications work or how they're absorbed

What to do instead:

The best approach is to talk with your healthcare provider before trying any detox or cleanse. They can evaluate whether it's safe given your specific medications and health situation.

Focus on proven strategies like staying hydrated, eating a balanced diet, and following your prescribed treatment plan. These have much better evidence for supporting your overall health with Parkinson's.
