It was a good afternoon. I cut the posts for the new railing also the new supports. I had the post holders attached to the posts.
My middle son came over after work and screwed them in place. I had everything ready for him 2 inpact drivers ready one for the lag bolts the other for construction screws
It took him 20 minutes saved me from taking the chance of losing my balance and falling.
Its for a balcony on the second floor off our bedroom
My son is a construction welder/supervisor so working at heights is second nature to him
All he said is just ask dad it’s not a big deal if I’m working in town to swing by on the way home
I always hate to ask because all my children have young families to get home to
But I’m slowly finding out they don’t mind.
It’s very rewarding to know
You sound very resilient and caring. I fully respect your husband for wanting to still carry on I understand it
I totally understand that we are here for a fraction of time. That’s why I try not to waste the time I have
I just need to learn to ask for assistance when required. Hard to do when your use to being the one who helped people
Hi Mark R. Being older is bad enough but toss in P.D. and maybe another thing or two and I takes a super Buddhist to be able to smile away the days. Remember; Our time in this meat sack is but a half blink of the eye in the vast trillion years or so. It's short, sometimes sweet, for a while. But it's all we get. So if you can find the strength. Live the best G.D. P.D life possible. It all ends soon. Big hug my friend.
The last week my decline has been very noticeable. I now need to use my walker in the house most of the time. Bouncing off the walls is working anymore haha. My head fog has gotten worse if that was possible.
I was going to replace a railing on a small balcony off our bedroom. As I started removing the posts the only thing going through my mind was how bad my balance was. I use to have no issues working at heights walking ridge points while doing roofing was as easy as walking on the ground. Not anymore. I guess I will need to get one of my sons to finish this job
Damn I’m not enjoying this.
