Use a cane. Exercise such as walking is critical for PDers. Even puttering around at home is helpful. Good thing I don't have PD.
Use it or lose it. Walk all you can. Keep your body strong and your muscles flexible. Get a roll-a-tor if you feel unsteady. If surfaces are uneven or steep, the brakes help you go slower and feel confident. My PWP husband goes on hikes with me over even surfaced or hard-packed trails. We purchased an heavy duty roll-a-tor (Drive Nitro) that can withstand uneven or bumpy roads and keep him upright and steady. Yes, walking makes him tired. But it is a good tired from physical exertion, not boredom. The sunshine will also help with mood.
Can't agree more. Discounting balance issue, walking is good. JV walks lots. She feels best when she walks. Also swims and uses those bouyant barbells to work her upper body.
I think walking is wonder exercise if you have balance problems. Just go slow and remember to take big steps until you get better at it.
Yes, yes, JH, as you know well, exercise is positive for PDers. Positive in physical and mental dimensions. But as you say, if exercise is physically impossible, then you can't. I encourage JV to play tennis because it forces brain work, she has to adjust her mind and body to where ball is every time for every stroke.
