I am working with a Holistic Health Counselor.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, that is so true! None of us have the same kind of experience with PD, which means our care cannot be sort of "cookie-cutter". Whatever makes us cope better is what we need to do without someone questioning "why."
I always add my supplements when asked for a list of meds. I also do the Interactions check list on the MedScape site. There is a lot of info there. And there are other interactions and side effects lists on the web.
@LoisHom,I do a lot of cooking with Coconut oil. It is organic but I have found it in many grocery stores. It is a little more expensive but well worth it. I have a dog that has had bald spots for years from cushings disease and nothing we used worked to grow back the hair. I started spreading a little coconut oil on a clice of bread for her and her hair is back. I use it myself for a number of things. My husband is diabetic and it has not hurt him.
JV is now on supplements after visit to her primary. He wants her to gain weight; she's drinking Boost once a day....others vitamin D, B 12 shots, a bone pill. This is added to Carbadoba/leva. Also on a nausea pill and a muscle relaxer. Pills are a challenge. She's usually nauseous in morning and has no desire to eat, swallowing meds is a challenge. She's feeling pretty good. Played great tennis yesterday in mixed doubles.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I agree with you! I cannot take most medications due to my immune system being over active. I have been trying holistic for a couple of years. I see a big difference in me since I have changed over.
