I've seen many other pd meds mentioned by others, I wonder what if and difference there is between sinemet and other meds, I see my neuro doc. in MAy and wonder why he went with sinemet before anything else. Thanks
my first drug was opinrole step up 2 then 4 then 6 by the time i got to 6 sleeping 12 to 14 hour a day
Sinemet is a completely natural medication. There are NO chemicals in it. I believe that is why it is the first choice for most doctors
Hi DevenS. From what I've gathered about Sinemet *AKA Carbo-Levo Dopa, it is the first medication prescribed to replace dopamine in newly diagnpsed PD patients.. Sinemet is a combination of carbo-dopa and levo-dopa. It is the drug of choice for PD doctors in treating Parkinson's. Other medications include MAO-B inhibitors called Selegeline, and Azilect. Most other drugs are used along with Sinemet to prolong the effects of dopamine but cannot enter the brain because of the the blood-brain barrier. Hence the incurable disease called Parkinson's disease. There is much more to be known but this is the initial stage of Parkinson's treatment. Sterling
