So true. I have taken Wellbutrin for years (before I took Azilect ) and before I was diagnosed with PD. It is a no no with Azilect, but my dr (movement specialist) said it was OK for me to take both. But it definitely flashes a warning for the pharmacist. I have taken both for about 5 years.

I am new to this web page. I answered a question and then realized these entries are over 3 years old. Folks must know that there is a generic to Azilect. It is Rasagiline. I would ALWAYS check with my PD doc before taking any meds given my a PCP or NP.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member: I am hesitant to take the med my primary care Dr. prescribed due to the red flags and was going to wait to start until I contacted the neurologist who put me on Azilect. The primary Dr's nurse said he told her that he had checked with his cohorts who said it would be okay, however it took him almost 2 weeks before I got the answer and then only after I had asked the nurse.

I was put on Azilect about a month ago. It seems to be helping along with my sinemet. However, when my primary care Dr. prescribed a medication to help with my depression and anxiety he entered the medication into a computer along with the medications I am currently taking he got a red warning of drug interaction problems. He had to confer back to the Dr. that put me on Azilect. It seems there are a lot of potential medications you can not take if you use Azilect. I researched and looked at the list. It seems that Azilect is a potent medication.
