As a retired Speech language Pathologist, i have to say that LSVT or Loud, works best when patients practice on a daily basis. Dont do it if you cannot commit to a practice group outside of therapy sessions. i still say musical choirs are a great way to carryover skills you learn in LOUD.

Absolutely and have actually cried about it. I am seeing a speech pathologist just to be able to speak where others can both hear and understand me. It has been one of the worst effects of PD for me. Sometimes when I try to sing in church I end up in tears, so yes I understand your question.

YES, I love the lord and liked to sing, I don't seem to have the air to push out the voice, I whistle now, , my family giggles. LOL

I try to find a karaoke bar and this also forces me to get out in public. My voice is changing, depending on the day, but this is worse when trying to communicate on the phone. I use a jabra noise canceling head set with a mic, and this helps Tremendously

I met my husband at karaoke, so singing is something very special to us. His voice has gotten weaker over the last year. Speech therapy has told him that singing is one of the best exercises for his voice and his issues with swallowing. He is not happy with the changes so I do have trouble getting him to sing. He just has to keep trying and working those muscles. Sometimes the only way I can understand what he is saying is to make him mad! Then he will slow down and say each work separately.

I just try to make the most of the gifts God gave me. Some of those gifts have changed over the years. There is always something else when one door closes.
