Hi @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I am 74 years old and was diagnosed with atypical Parkinson about 4 years ago. The last 6 TO 8 months my symptoms of freezing , balance problems and fogginess in my head has rapidly increased that now every time I get up I am in danger of falling. I go to a support group 2x a week where we do stretching while sitting on a chair for about 45 minutes and the rest of the time, we do walking exercise and also some Big exercise program, where we are taught to take big steps and to talk loud. This has helped me in my freezing and walking but not the fogginess in my head. I use a walker at home and when I go out with my caregiver wife I have a choice of using a cane or a walker. Hpoe this help. God Bless.
My husband has had both in house and outside. Outside is better because they have more machines available. Don't wait do it now and keep doing it. The more you move the better off you are. Good luck
Parkinson has programs called BIG check some physical therapy places to see if they offer it
My wife took it and it helped her. We live in Toms River
Try to find a physical therapy program that does the BIG program it helped me
IF youhave Medicare, it will reimburse the walker company and the walker company will do all the paperwork for you. The name of the walker is U-STEP WALKER. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is call their #. which could be googled. I agree with the comments here that you need a walker. God Bless.
