A blood test would be easy and the right meds could bring her back a bit. My husband is 79, his dementia isn't bad but it coming along, and I think the right meds are helping him. We both have Lyme and it can mimic PD - I say that because the Sinemet is not doing what it's supposed to do.
If you choose to do this, you can get a kit from Igenix (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators) and bring it to your Internist and, if he signs off on it, it would be a blood test. Just a thought, to help her out - and you too! Check the cost though, it is not always covered by insurance and I would think to start just get the test for Lyme and not the co-infections (many of which can be worse than Lyme itself!)
Whatever you choose, I hope she starts feeling better and you take care of yourself! That is so important!

Many people don't wan to have the surgery until they know more about it and see the differences it can make in their daily lives. How much does she know about it?
