Easily fatigued (doing the simplest simplest activities) What do you do besides sitting or lying down?
Also, tongue feels "thick" and slurring if talking for more than a few sentences.
I doubt if I'm alone; but, sure don't have the answers I need.
I have started LSVT classes and they include a PT/OT component and I'm liking it a lot. I still need cueing to make it loud as I forget and the exercises have helped my shoulders and neck be less tense. I first heard of LSVT from someone here on my parkinsonsteam
I was recently diagnosed to have Parkinson"s disease and my biggest problem was slurred speech, which corrected itself but then turned into soft speech with no volume at all and then I started to lose my balance occasionally. I am now attending a class which forces you to speak very loud and clear and to pronounce each work slowly.. I find these classes are great and can really assist you in getting your voice back to almost normal..I think it is called LSVT class but it is probably available somewhere close to where you live. They also offer a small exercise class which will help with any balance issues you have now or will get later. good luck rick
Trying an inexpensive bottle of "Biotene Moisturizing Mouth Spray." So far (!) it has helped with swallowing and dry mouth feeling that made me feel like my tongue had doubled in size, which led to slurring. Not expecting it to solve everything; but, it hasn't been wasted money. Fatigue?? I'm not on the "winning side!"
I have a friend at church that says she doesn't like to speak much although is alert and all because of her stumbling word and being slurred also
You are not alone. The slurred speech makes it so much more difficult to communicate. I find myself choosing to sit silently rather than embarrass myself
