A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband is starting the amino acid therapy soon. Is anyone familiar with this treatment?

Yes, 14 grams a day. His doctor is a psychologist and is trained by Dr. Hinz. The doctor will no longer skype with us because my husband is unable to progress as fast as he hoped. My husband is now trying to continue on his own. My husband mixes the Mucuna with water and drinks it throughout the day. He had tried other ways to take it, such as with applesauce and strawberry smoothies, but I think the Mucuna did not work as well with those methods.

Not sure if original post got thru? Using 8oz of chocolate milk blended w the 7 g of mucuna and 7.5 g of tyrosine, maybe w some banana or blue or rashberrys thrown in. Lower volume so room for other foods and doesn't taste too bad. Has greatly reduced my adversion to the powders .

My wife tried the amino acid therapy. Using the generally accepted 5 stages of Parkinson's she was in stage 4. She did a bunch of rsearch and decided to give it a try. The Texas natural medicine folks she went with required she go off her meds cold turkey and start their program. They said it would take about 9 weeks to observe any noticeable results and they would a physically uncomfortable weeks. They understated the physically uncomfortable part. For my wife it was straight down hill physically. At the 7 week point when she was unable to move and the discomfort was overwhelming we took her back to her neurologist who said that was as bad as he had seen. He immediately started her back on her meds (sinemet) and with in a week my wife was doing better and able to walk. We talked about her experience and feel that a person should be in the early stages of Parkinson's before trying the amino acid therapy. Cost and local neurologist support are also important factors. If you try it good luck. The mucuna did some remarkable physical changes to my but they were short lived.

My husband is trying to get to 20 gm a day. He is taking 8 neurorepletes and 4 replete extras. Still getting itchy scalp and chest spasms along with nausea. How do you take your Mucuna? My husband mixes it with applesauce.
