YES, I can honestly state thru personnel experience that this therapy can really work gtreat for you and would be the first person with PD to let you know give it try and you will be very impressed with the results.. I attended speech therapy classes which were conducted by the out patient clinic of the Sarasota Hospital clinic and it is really a good program At the completion of the 16 class sessions I could actually communicate in a loud clear voice and not have people ask me to repeat myself because they could not hear me or understand as I was not pronouncing my words properly. . My major downfall with this program was the lack of me not following up on the exercises I was given following the completion of this course and now I am right back where I started with my soft incoherent speech issues..Last week I met with the people who run the Parkinson Place facility in Sarasota and I am now registered to begin the one on one speech classes called LSVT loud which is a nation wide speech therapy class set up to assist people affected with PD related speech issues..If you have speech issues this is the route to take.. good luck rick earle
Here is a very helpful, simple, and fun technique to improve speech. There is a sample video that shows "before and after" with improvement in just one session! https://speak-steady.teachable.com/
Hi Wanda.. Yes I have been twice and I must state the improvement was really remarkable.. The main point is you have to continue to practice or you will lose everything you have gained by going..I mumbled so much it was really getting to the point i stopped speaking because no one could understand what I was trying to say.. My wife and I are Canadians living in the USA with legal green cards for the past 30 years.. I must admit I am not familiar with the Canadian Health care system but I have to believe all you should have to do is look in the local phone book for a speech therapist and they can explain the coverage and how to enroll..If this does not work call your local pD office as they have a speech therapy class set up just for members who have a speech problem and it is a really great program.. good luck rick
I am going to look into this thanks
Is there a program in Canada that would help. He mumbles and I don't know what he is trying to say.
Why does Parkinsons affect vocal cords? My husbands voice is down to a whisper. Anything to be done?
