I have been off PD meds almost 6 years...Chiropractic care weekly and better nutrition . Not a cure but managing better without than I did with. Have good days and bad, but more good than bad.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I too have benefited from an alkaline diet especially since certain meds mess with the stomach. I never had acid reflux or GERD til I started taking PD meds! I try to eat organic as much as possible with focus on alkaline fruits & veggies, and fermented foods. I just started taking PD meds a year ago b/c my tremors had become too severe to ignore. I definitely notice the difference when I slacken my routine or good eating habits! Adding you to my team.

Food pyramid...no way!!! Staying away from the S.A.D(standard american diet) Maximized Living basic plan...more on the natural, grassfinished meat, higher on the protein and essential fatty acids, low glycemic fruits like berries, smoothies on days were my apetite isnt what it should be. Trying to keep my body on the more alkaline side than acidic.including my choices for hydration. Purified water with a dash of baking soda to keep it fresh...

Very interesting and important discussion, thanks. My goal is to get off PD meds and the Functional Medicine approach sounds worth investigating. It tests for autoimmune disease, addresses exercise, sleep, nutrition, supplements. Check it out, I've only recently discovered it, so can't offer much advice yet.
Good luck on your journey
