My husband was diagnosed about three years ago, and has been seen by a geriatric specialist, who doesn't seem at all interested in his dreadful non-motor symptoms, which are affecting our lives so drastically. Do you think we would be better served by switching to a neurologist?
Who diagnosed him ? A geriatric doctor is not qualified and is not the specialist to consult if a person has Parkinson's.A Mouvement Disorder Specialist is the only kind of neurologist that is specialized for diagnosis and treating PD.You must absolutely see a neurologist specialized in PD
Definitely! Movement specialist.
Yes, to a movement specialist if you can
I feel that a neurologist is the right person to see with Parkinson's . I wish you good luck in finding the right doctor who will be able to assist you. God bless.
Yes, I agree with Manon on this, find a neurologist, preferably a movement disorder specialist. Also, get on line or to the library and read everything you can find on Parkinson's. Be your own doctor.
