For the recovering any recommendations ?
Neurosurgery recovery was easy. Had more discomfort after placement of generator. Sixteen months later, I feel better than I have in decades!!
I have heard of this happening too.( Having some relief when only the bi laterals have been put in.) an acquaintance of ours had the first step done and felt enormous relief. However, when the batteries were put in place and switched on he reverted back to having all the usual Parkinson's problems. Very odd. My husband has had Parkinson's for twenty years, and had DBS ten years ago. It was like being reborn, was his description. And that was before the advances in the operation they've made since.
I had DBS done in 2010 in two steps. I had bi lateral DBS done first. then a month later had the pacemakers put in. I had some positive results even before the pacemakers were put in. It has been a blessing,
Keep your bowels moving so no straining and undue pressure on your head. Have a good support system for the initial weakness.
I'm sorry it caused problems the first time. Best of luck for the 31st May. My husband had it done ten years ago and it certainly been worth it for him. He had quality of life back.
