Dystonia Through Most Of My Body And Painful
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Right now I'm dealing with tightness under my ribcage feels like somebody squeezing it and twisting it and the tightness goes around all the way to my back to my shoulder blade. It's quite painful My Neurologist says that dystonia is pretty normal for ( Young onset parkinson's disease) patients.

Does anyone else deal with a lot of dystonia in how do you take care of it ?Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I get it in my calf muscles and ham strings, but mostly only in the morning. I also get it in my neck if my meds are low and I let something stress me. It pulls my head to the right. I try to stretch and then relax, stretch and then relax my legs, or turn my head slowly if it's my neck, and stay as calm as possible. I also find moving often, even just a little bit seems to make things better. Maybe try stretching your stomach and chest by leaning your shoulders over a low back chair a few times gently to see if it helps. Exercise is supposed to be good for us when we can get ourselves to do it. I find if I go for a brisk walk when I feel up to it, I notice a benefit the next day.
I found dystonia very scary when I first started getting it because I didn't know if it would go away but that was almost three years ago and it hasn't really gotten worse.

It seemed to help a little bit but I just had it done in and takes anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks to kick in fully . Definitely better than Before

I have dystonia in my right foot.I suffer with tremors on my right side of my body . Curling fingers and toes which I get Botox to help with the pain. I have a lot of pain especially at nighttime time when my medication wears off . Diagnosed 1 year and a half ago at 43 .

I have dystonia in my neck and shoulders. I find relief with yoga and walking and massage. Yoga stretches muscles and walking works every muscle in your body. Massage helps to relax the muscles and it feels a bit like pampering..
