Hi Kwolfe, good day, I bid you greetngs from down under Australia.

Re The DBS debate.

Yes I underwent DBS in October 2009 with sccessful outcomes.
I can honestly say, that these last few years post DBS, have been
the best years of my life.

I have no regrets whatsoever, for having undergone DBS.

All cases are different of course. My husband had pretty advanced PD with mostly rigidity and slowness, some cognitive decline. Had the surgery and never received any real physical benefit, but certainly took a big hit to his cognition- 1 year now he has declined and is now hallucinating.

I had DBS IN 2013 both sides 9 mos. apart. My tremors are completely gone and have never returned.DBS does not stop all P/D symtems, which are many. You go into DBS, knowing it is not a cure all.I did great for about a year, then some issues started to come back. I'm very glad to not have any tremors, that was a big issue with me.my biggest problem now is freezing, drives me crazy ☹️
I live in a senior community, and I swear people think I am Crazy!!!!
Walking with my walker then BAM, a doorway and FREEZE. I am literally stuck to the floor.People hold the elavator door and say "come on.I will hold the door" and I can't move. Some days are really good, and I know exercise is a must, walking too.
Anyone out there have freezing, I find this the most irritating symtom and very little can help. My neurologist says it is very bothersome to
Them also. Well, enough about me,any one care to comment?
Olive oil. 😀

I have not had it yet but planning on having it this fall. I visit my Surgeon next week so I am hoping to set a date. I have gone through all my test and I am being told that I am a good candidate for DBS. I will keep everyone updated as we go through the process.

My dad had dbs in 2013. He had complete relief of all tremors immediately with placement. Generator not turned on for 9 months. Only requires a very low dose or has too many issues with dyskinesia. He is just starting with tremors on the other side. However, the speech, and balance and falls and increasing forgetfulness were not changed if anything those continue to progress
