I'm 38 years old and I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's disease over a year ago in March of 2016. I live in a small community in Southern California and the closest groups that I have been told about are over an hour and a half drive, or 110 miles to San Diego. Hi Joshua I was a very similar age when I found out about PD. Its now been 15 years and Im still well in control and have very little side effects and believe me I take a fair wack of meds each day. Fitness is the key to stalling this PD. You have a major advantage your young and PD is at the early stages. I live in NZ and we need to talk. If interested flick me your contact details and I will tell you my story of how I still control PD and in some areas of my life am way better than 10 years ago. All the very best

There is a support group in San Diego, but there are closer ones. FranBL has the number of who to contact. Hope this helps.
If you can't find an "official" support group, I've found support in my PD exercise classes. Try Parkinson's Disease Foundation hotline (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators).
We previously lived in Bakersfield a regularly went to the PD doctors at UCLA. They were excellent. I would be very surprised if they can't point you at a support group there, or at least nearer than San Diego.
