I too had severe nausea, and headaches. Finally stopped taking the levodopa for several months. Have recently started it again at half the dosage, and have already had the first increase of dosage. Happy to say I have only had one day with a headache and no nausea this time. The Dr suggested that it might help to build up more gradually, which seems to be helping. Good luck.
NAUSEA. I had nausea from carbidopa-levodopa for 9 months. I lost 20 pounds that I did not have to lose!! I lived on whole milk and yogurt. I was so messed up. I had to take the levodopa. One day the nausea just went away! Ginger in a tincture from the natural health store really helped. My neurologist said that it is not unusual for the nausea to disappear after 9 months of hell. If you can just keep taking it...use a long acting preparation of carbidopa-levodopa. GOOD LUCK!!! I know where you are at!!
My Dr added Carbidopa, 25 mg, 3X, daily. My nausea and vomiting reduced from 2-3X per week, to 2-3X, per month! And, I've had an increase of Carbidopa/Levadopa, without having the nausea return! Bless you!
For 9 months the carbidopa-levodopa made me very nauseated ... then the nausea just went away. My doc said this was not unusual. During that 9 months I found that Ginger was very very effective for the nausea. It is cheap and you can get a tincture of concentrated Ginger at the natural health food store. I am not a natural food nut but Naturopaths do know a thing or two. Levodopa is the most effective drug for PD. Let's use it if we can. Dopamine Agonists have more side effects that levodopa. For that 9 months... I was a complete basket case and I lost 20 pounds. Tom Leonard
