My ability to taste food ad smell has been decreasing. I can pick up salty or sweet, but am finding most foods have no flavor. I used to love butter, but now only taste the salt in it. Taste of coffee not coming through either.
The few flavors that still come through are any dishes with tomatoes, i.e. spaghetti, chili, ketchup and chocolate. Any one else experiencing this?

Over the past couple of years I have noticed I have used more seasoning than what I used to.

Hi @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member - I have "nose blindness" too ! - though curiously I can still taste and enjoy foods. It is very odd as I used to have an acute sense of smell. I can still distinguish dangerous smells like gas (and sadly old dog farts!) and sometimes know something smells, but cannot place the new smell.

My daughter tells me she heard of some therapy to bring back sense of smell using Rosemary (rosemary for remembrance?!), but I have not looked into it.

I think the lack of smell is related to the part of the brain associated with higher cognitive function, but I have just decided to try and access areas that have not yet been tapped or use more of what I have! I liked
the comments one of the members made about being told he had impaired cognitive function - "and then I went on to do my PHD!" That made my year!

My husband has lost most of sense of smell and taste. He puts vinegar over vinegar based products on almost everything. He claims it brings the flavors out.
