My mom was recently diagnosed with PD. We have suspected it for some time, but finally through ruling out everything else, they gave us this diagnosis.

I don't think speech therapy will help with remembering what she wanted to say - it's for swallowing, volume, intelligibility, and if you do your exercises can really help. I can't remember words, a common PD problem, and either describe the word I want or just wait for it to come to me - speech therapy did not address this. What we have is a cognitive problem.
Yes. Speech Pathologists DO work on cognitive issues, word finding, recall, memory strategies in addition to voice and swallowing (dysphagia) therapy, etc.
