Face the facts folks PD is hard on marriages. I`m 73 and divorced because of PD. At least that's the way I see it. We all would like to think we would take care of our spouses regardless of the circumstances but it`s not that easy. Caregiving is one of the hardest things one can do. Don`t get me wrong ,I`m the one in our relationship that has PD but I can understand how the pressure of taking care of someone with PD can be hard on both of us. That being said I think that nobody ,doctor or caregiver ,will ever really understand what we go through.Stay with it people. But always try to have compassion for each other.

I think that is a question that you cannot be generalized, it vastly depends on the individuals involved. Some partners are very supportive,,others do not want to accept that there are problems and just want to turn around and walk away. Even when they are supportive it puts any relationship under great stress.

So sorry fletch, about your Divorce. I guess people who try to take care of others can't cope, so they try to escape anyway they can. My suggestion is to focus all the positive interests you have.Then put those interests into actions. You probably will be more than happy and will be able to let go of the one who could not cope.
