Hi, I was wondering if sometimes people progress fast? Has anyone progressed in 4 yrs? I'm just curious or is everybody takes yrs to progress?

I think its very important to join a Parkinsons Support Group and if there isn't one near you, START ONE. They become a source of support, comfort, information and caring friends who are coping, just like you are. And for those people more advanced, they are a source of inspiration. There are Parkies lurking around everywhere. Its remarkable how many potential fellow travelers are out there. They can give you perspective... and help you maintain (or develop) a sense of humor. National Parkinson Foundation has a Guide (available for free on the Internet).

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I do start off slowly but then any day you 'start off' & can get out of bed is heading in a positive direction. I'm pretty sure @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member is just putting a positive spin on what I said. I think of my aches & pains as a reminder to work a bit harder to correct or prevent them through stretching or exercise of some sort.

I was diagnosed about 5 years ago and it seemed to progress quickly for 2 years from a twitching finger to arm shaking & head bobbing. Then it plateaued & remained the same for two years.

I see a movement specialist neurologist every 6 months,
About a year ago I decided to fight back instead of simply accepting my fate. Began Tai Chi which helped my balance. Then began Rocksteady Boxing which helped my movement.

It takes me a good half hour in the morning to moving. I have to work my legs, back and arms to get the stiffness out. But once I do that I can have a good day.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member - I keep hoping that exercise, staying active, and being me no matter what - that these things will slow my rate of progression. I never use PD as an excuse to not get up, get out and Do something now, and as I get busy, my symptoms fade into the background of my life instead of being the foreground. Who knows if my symptoms would be worse by now if I had just spent my days dozing in my recliner...

OK, a new PD supp. Group is forming in west Florida near Spring Hill and Hudson areas.
It’s about 25 miles north of Tampa.
If anyone is looking for a PD support group please send me a message.
I already have the facility which is handicapped accessible. AC, free coffee, clean and open from 7:00 until 10:00pm, 7 days a week.
So pass the word to others with PD.
This is a brand new PD group so all are welcome to join.
btw, no dues only small donations.
