Just wanted to share that Sinemet comes in various types - in strength and ratio of Carbidopa to Levodopa..... With major difference in effects on ones PD ( 1 to 4 or 1 to 10 )

Agree with Jud, not a good idea. Check with your doctor first if you want to get off of sinemet. I am a firm believer in always getting a doctor’s approval for any medication change. But good luck and send best thoughts your way.

Not a good idea to abruptly stop sinemet. Ask a doctor to help you wean slowly. Withdrawal can lead to fever, muscular rigidity, altered mental status, and dysfunction of the nerves that regulate nonvoluntary body functions, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and sweating.

I was diagnosed with PD in 2014 - after I had the symptoms for more than a year. I have been on Carbilev ever since. I started taking 2 Carbilev a day - I now take one Carbilev 25/100 every three hours. I was taking Sinemet slow release - one at night only to take me through the night without waking up with an attack. I found that my attacks became more severe and frequent and when I ran out of Sinemet I had no attacks - I may add here that Carbilev and Sinemet are the same thing - in my case the Sinemet was just a slow release tablet. I follow my Doctors' advice very strictly and advise everyone to do so - PD is no joke and playing around with medication that affects your brain is very serious. I could definitely not quit my PD medication and would not advise anyone to do so. PD affects people in different ways - not everyone has the same symptoms and for that reason not everyone takes the same medication, we all experience different things in different ways. Sinemet may work well for some and not for others because we are all different, people experience different side effects from medication. I believe all these drugs for PD are great - they all have a role to play in relieving the pain of this terrible condition.
So - follow your doctor's advice - they know best, take your meds on time and know that God loves us all.
