I've been taking sinemet since I was first diagnosed 5 years ago at the Russ institute.. I've altered the dosage several times under the guidance of the chief neurologist at the U of Wisconsin. I also attended a Parkinson's support group at my local senior center.I'm enrolling in senior sneakers and hope to exercise more
The pharmacist suggested starting out with half a dose by cutting the pill in half. After three weeks I contacted my doctor and informed him that the side effects from the drug were making me feel worse and that I was stopping taking it.
I couldn’t walk, my wife stopped sienmet.....still having difficulty....
I have been on Sinemet for 6 years and started jerking 1 year ago. I too experience it wearing off around 2 hours have become dependent on it too. There are times when it doesn’t work because of what I have eaten. I am going to have DBS. Just working through the process.
I suspect that once I started taking Sinemet it changed my brain chemistry. My brain got lazy and cut back even more. Now I am dependent on it. It wears off in 2 to 3 hours and it is like letting the air out of a balloon. I used to think the twitching and spasms were from the drug but now I think it is just one of the nasty symptoms of this cruel disease. Hope you get some answers.
