She has BiPolar disorder for which she takes Lithium and has a Duodopa pump for PD. She takes Sinemet and when it wears off the restless legs start and makes sleeping very difficult.

I started with restless legs about 20 years ago,but didn't know what was going on. It was only when I went to a sleep clinic that they confirmed that restless legs was the problem (about 12-14 years ago).. Pramipexole was prescribed and it has been a wonder drug for the restless legs. It has worked beautifully without side effects for me. And I have continued using it along with sinemet for PD (diagnosed about 1 1/2 years ago..

I get very distressed with restless legs and found pramipexole the most effective treatment. I also get some relief by taking a multimineral supplement. Epsom salts also seems to be beneficial.
For leg cramps I have found quinine sulphate helpful.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I have the same thing but in my case my upper body just sort of jumps. I have been bipolar my whole life and lithium and strong sleeping pills got me through ok.for many years. I am diabetic and since my years of lithium has hurt my kidneys, I only take another med now.
