Has Anyone Had Dramatic Weight Loss.
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

When I 1srmt noticed my parkinsons symptoms in summer of 2017. I weighed almost 210. By fall, I noticed my weight going down. It is February 2019 and I am almost down to 155. I have done nothing to try to lose it. I am still eating the same. Same activities. Always have worked on my feet. Has anyone else have similar weight loss. PCP did blood work and wants to do CT scans. He forgot to get approval from insurance company so had to cancel CT scan appointment. Wondering if weight loss is just… read more

I don't really know if this will help but my husband takes almost two hours to eat a meal. He tires chewing even small amounts of food. Over the past ten years he has gone from 220 to 169. Severe constipation and slowing of the digestive system makes him feel full and very seldom hungry so he leaves most of his food on his plate. I make him protein powder milk shakes and sneak fruit in also.

I have lost weight over the last 2 years with Pd . I started at 113 now I’m at 86 lb
My Dr doesn’t seem to worry about my weight .But I find it kinda scary.
So I eat all the time.
More than I ever have in 55 years. I quit losing but I have not gained anything either. My honey of 12 years is shocked on how much food I eat and not gain. I even wake up in the middle of the night hungry and eat a snack then Igo back to bed ..
It’s a crazy Disease

I have a scope scheduled in a few weeks but everything has checked out so far so I’m sure this will also.

I have to admit that I am now at my correct weight for my height. Just thinking that my doctor just likes to order tests. I know it must be concerning to him to account for so much weight lost and concerns me a bit but I am making sure I am getting my vitamins. Going to hold off on CT scans he wants me to The tremors I have are in my legs and the meds wear off quickly. Tried a longer lasting form of my meds but of course insurance won't cover them. hat and who knows what i do in my sleep/ Used to have boxing matches. When I woke up once during a match and I was throwing punches right over my wife, Very scary. Sleeping in spare bedroom now.
I think those are what is causing the weight loss.
Thanks for your info, nice to chat with others with the same problems.

I lost 52 pounds in a few months, mostly due to losing my appetite and also through PD food lost most of it's flavour. I have managed to gain about 7 pounds and stabilised. Had blood tests and CT scan and seems everything is normal and in the right place. Lucky to have the National Health Service in the UK so everything is free at point of access. Medication not having much effect on the tremors so had an MRI scan and surprised everyone by showing I do have a brain in my head. Who would have guessed!!! Also saw a dietitiion who told me to eat whatever I like as it is more important to maintain the weight, even put in writing that I could eat as much chocolate and desserts as I like. I framed that letter lol.
