not specifically for Lewy Body, but for many motor skill related issues - we have a similar program called Knock Out Parkinson's (boxing) and I've been doing that for almost 2 yrs. My friends that know I have PD have told me I'm doing better than I was 2 yrs ago. The hard exercise makes the mind and body work together and incorporates balance and footwork activity as well as moving yours arms.
Forget what that instructor said and go out and get some boxing gloves and a heavy bag. PD or no PD, Plus or Minus, anyone can benefit from the cardio workout that boxing offers. For me, it lessons off time, and makes me feel better right away. Additionally, the feedback from punching that bag over comes the coordination brain fog disrupts and relieves stress. Go slow at first but do try
When I inquired about Rock Steady Boxing, the instructor told me that it wouldn't help with Parkinson's Plus patients, only those with PD. Don't know why the difference, but he has been teaching it for over 10 years.
Thank you, I will. I'm willing to try just about anything to see if it will help give him a better life!
I agree. Boxing is great exercise and therapeutic. Sometimes it just feels right to punch the living snot out of something
